Our department is known for its strong sense of teamwork and commitment to its subject and students. We teach English from K-12 while following the California Common Core State Standards (CCSS). We work hard to ensure that our standards-based curriculum provides a wide and varied range of learning opportunities that meet the needs and interests of our students, taking into account and making use of their rich and diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Our ultimate goals are:
To foster a sense of aptitude and confidence in students and help them communicate with different audiences distinctly, appropriately, and successfully.
To provide interactive and motivational lessons that encourage students to discover and enjoy reading and recognize its role in their creative and imaginative growth.
To foster cross-curricular abilities such as research, analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving, and presentation to help students excel in any area of study.
To inspire students to develop a deep awareness of themselves, others, and the world around them.
To set high expectations for students while studying and guarantee a seamless transition through the various phases that prepare them for external exams (MAP, CAT4, IELTS, TOEFL) and well beyond.
